The reading, writing, and thinking skills learned in this course are valuable tools which students can apply in many areas of their future lives.
Applied Math
The Applied Math class is designed to teach students the basics of real world mathematics. Students will study the following topics: number concepts, computation skills (+, -, x, /), time, money, measurement, fractions, data analysis, and geometry. Students will use skills learned to solve word problems and real-world problems. Applied Math will provide students with the mathematical tools necessary for them to live in the real world after high school.
Geometry

The Geometry class is designed to help students acquire and demonstrate knowledge of concepts, definitions, properties, and applications of the following topics as well as develop the computational skills and strategies needed to solve problems. Topics covered include the language of geometry (points, lines, planes and angles), reasoning, parallel and perpendicular lines, congruent triangles, applications of congruent triangles, quadrilaterals, similarity, right triangles and trigonometry, circles, polygons and area, surface area and volume, coordinate geometry, and transformations. Students will be able to solve real world problems and word problems that include the above listed math concepts.
Life Skills Math
The Life Skills Math class is designed to teach students the basics of real world mathematics needed for independent living. This class will focus on using math skills in real-life situations for those who have basic computational skills but need practice in applying these skills. Students will study the following topics: calculating area and perimeter for purchasing flooring/trim/paint, probability, income, wages, budgeting, interest rates, credit/debit cards, sales tax, percents, etc... Students will use skills learned to solve word problems and real-world problems.
